Have a Safe and Happy Summer!!!

Mrs. Heflin's Classroom

WELCOME TO MRS. HEFLIN'S
LIFE SKILLS CLASSROOM!

I am very happy to have returned to La Grange ISD to begin my first year of classroom teaching!  I have been in education for 5 years as a Special Education Paraprofessional with LGISD from 2007-2011, and Comal ISD/Canyon High School in New Braunfels for the 2015-2016 school year.  I obtained my Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice in 2006 from Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and then obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies in 2010 from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.  I began my Master of Science degree in Leadership in 2011, and am currently working towards this goal of completion.   And finally, I obtained my certification in Special Education EC-12 through the Texas Teachers Alternative Certification Program, and am working on my Music and General Education Certification as well.

Currently, I reside in New Braunfels with my wonderful family!  (Yes, I commute every single day to La Grange, but find the drive to be very relaxing!)  I have three biological children , Kayla Welch, who is my recent New Braunfels High School graduate this past May, now college Freshman and aspiring Animator who hopes to work for Disney's Pixar upon completion of her degree.  My son, Cameron Welch, who is a Senior at New Braunfels High School ,  is planning on attending college next Fall to pursue his degree in Video Game Design, and hopes to attend FullSail University in Florida, and obtain a job with Disney's Video Game Design group (Especially Star Wars!)   Cheyenne Welch, who is my youngest, and a Freshman at New Braunfels High School's 9th Grade Center,  is taking French, is a Softball pitcher for NBHS, and is in her second year of theater.  She is an aspiring Broadway actress and is working towards attending Juiliard in New York upon her graduation in 2020.  (I am a VERY PROUD mama!)  On March 12th, 2016, I was married to Larry Heflin at Newman's Castle in Bellville, and became a stepmother to two awesome children, Kyndal who is 12 and in the 7th grade at Bellville Jr. High, and Luke who is 8 and a 3rd grader at O'Bryant Primary School in Bellville.  Kyndal loves to draw, plays flute in the band, and loves Volleyball.  Luke is loving Little League, and is excited about being in Little Dribblers this year!  My husband is a Co-Manager at the San Marcos Walmart and has been a part of the Walmart organization for 11 years.  Our family revolves around our faith in God and I know my purpose on this earth is to teach children.  I would not have been able to do so without the love of God and without my faith in his direction.  I am very grateful.  We attend Renew Church here in New Braunfels and absolutely LOVE it!  We love volunteering, spending time together as a family, traveling, and watching movies.  My favorite past time is singing and I am working on my own Christian music at this time.  If you need ANYTHING, please feel free to contact me.  I am very much one who loves to keep the line of communication open and am here for you to help your child be successful!  Here's to a GREAT year!
